Article Critique About Humanism from Different Scholars (Article Critique Sample) Content: Name:Course:Instructor:Date:Critique of humanismHumanism can be defined as a subtle yet disarming way of saying atheism.Nontheists believe that humans not God and that nature not deity is at the top. They believe that humans are responsible for everything that is and will be. This debunking of God by humanists is a major basis of conflict between humanists and Christianity as Christians believe in the divine existence of the supernatural. Christians often speak of heaven, hell and the promised and planned salvation of manà ¢Ã¢â ¬s immortal soul after death. This believe in salvation from an unseen deityà ¢Ã¢â ¬s barely on the grounds of faith is wrong according to the humanists as is stated in their Humanist manifesto II "Humans are responsible for what we are or will become, no deity will save us we must save ourselvesà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã .(1973 p.16).Those who assent the existence of God and His word are unreasonable and absurd. Statements like the one above show tot al fortitude to live without God at whatever cost. With this one canà ¢Ã¢â ¬t help remembering the kind of people of whom Paul spoke Ephesians 2:11-13 who were in a hopeless situation and without God in the world. Such is the result of the thinking brought about by humanism. When it comes to sex and sexual behavior, humanists are very particular about what they believe. They do not condone judgement and attitudes cultivated by traditional religions and puritanical cultures regarding sex (Durbin, p37). They believe that it is their right to make decisions about issues such as abortion, divorce, birth control, etc. Sexual exploration between consenting adults should be recognized. Humanists do not in any way support sexual exploitation of any kind but they believe consensual sex should be recognized and tolerated by any civilized society. The Christian view regarding sexuality is simple. Christians know that sex is a gift from God and they realize that when used as God intended in a marriage setting it can bring great joy to a husband and a wife. Other sexual explorations not in line with what God intended such as homosexuality and fornication are viewed as perversions to the picture and relationship God choose to represent sex which is Christ and the church.Christians believe that Christ alone is the truth, the way and the life and no one comes to the father except through Him (John 14:6). In this, humanists have totally disregarded the existence of Christ and the truth of that he was sent to earth by God to save humankind from sin. It is such issues that lead to these conflicts because what Christians believe to be their origin, history and order of believe is something that humanists donà ¢Ã¢â ¬t even consider to be in existence or to have ever happened. These deeply rooted believes are ones that people have often died for in the past conflicts. It is Christianity that gives man his place in the universe as Gods creation (Genesis 1:26-32).Man is in a clas s lower than angels according to psalms 8:4-5. Contrary to what humanists advocate, man is not up from the slime but rather down from heaven. Christians and humanists also differ on the issue of ethics and morals whereby humanists believe that ethics and morals are cir...
